Moxa serial communication boards are compatible with all popular operating systems, and each of them supports data rates of up to 921.6 kbps and provides full modem control signals, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of serial peripherals. Moxa CP-132EL 2-port PCI Express serial boards are designed for industrial automation applications that require a long-distance, multipoint, PC-based data acquisition solution.

RS-485 Multidrop for up to 31 Devices Within 1.2 km
Moxa CP-132EL features two RS-422/485 serial ports, each of which can achieve data rates up to 921.6 kbps. In RS-485 mode, the boards can connect up to 31 daisy-chained RS-485 devices within a range of 1.2 km. For long-distance RS-485 communication, we recommend the CP-132EL-I model, which offers 2 kV electrical isolation protection to prevent equipment damage.

ADDC™ (Automatic Data Direction Control) for RS-485
RS-485 uses differential data transmission over two wires to transmit data from one station to another, and allows multiple transmitters and receivers to be used on the same data line.

RS-485 uses half-duplex transmission, which means that transmission and reception share the same data channels. For this reason, only one transmitter can be active at any given time. Moxa’s serial boards have a built-in circuitry to switch transmitters on and off automatically. We call this form of switching ADDC® (Automatic Data Direction Control)

Drivers Provided for Windows, Linux, and UNIX
A wide variety of operating systems is support. Stable Windows and Linux drivers are provided for all Moxa boards, and other operating systems, such as WEPOS, are also supported for embedded integration.
