PoE technology minimises the need for a power supply on the end device particularly in remote locations. A PoE power injector spits out both power and data over the Ethernet (CAT5e/CAT6/ CAT6a) cable to power the device. IEEE 802.3af (PoE) technology provides a maximum of 15 watt of power for the end device. The newer IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) technology delivers a maximum 34 of watts. Users enjoy greater flexibility of device placement since there is no need to be near power outlets.
