MOXA has developed a proprietary chip that is integrated with a dedicated
processor, allowing full duplex transmission speeds up to 921 Kbps across all ports
simultaneously. This is four times faster than the speed available using standard UART
technology. Each of the board’s 4 RS-232 serial ports supports a fast 921.6 kbps baudrate. 

Moxa CP-104EL-A features 128-byte FIFOs, which is more than the standard 16550
UART provides. Experience has shown that 128 bytes is sufficient to prevent
data from getting backed up at the serial controller level, while still conserving CPU
resources.
