Yes. Moxa TCF-142 series has a S1 DIP switch located inside the housing. Users can determine the data length (7 to 12 bits) in serial RS-485 mode. Full instructions are available in the quick installation guide of Moxa TCF 142 series.
If the length of the fiber optic cable between Moxa TCF-142 devices is 20 km, you can connect up to 5 (five) TCF-142 devices to the network; if the fiber optic cable length is 2 km, up to 50 (fifty) TCF-142 devices can be connected to the network.
When designing an optical link, one of the factors to consider is the optical power budget. The power budget indicates the amount of light available to make a fiber optic connection, and it is the difference between the optical transmitter output power ( TX power ) and the receiver sensitivity ( Rx sensitivity ). A simple calculation is used to determine how much optical power, measured in dBm, is available. [Power Budget (dBm) = TX Power - RX Sensitivity] Tx power indicates the device's worst-case transmit power, the device is guaranteed to provide at least that much power. Rx sensitivity indicates the minimum amount of light required by the receiver to operate correctly.
