Moxa IMC-P21A-G2 Series is a standalone plug and play PoE+ Fast Ethernet-to-fiber media converter. It allows users to extend the transmission distance and power up Ethernet devices without extra power cables. IMC-P21A-G2 has rugged compact design for easy installation in a cabinet. Features dual power input, surge protection and current protection. Designed for easy maintenance with smart PoE functions, LED indicator lights and link fault pass through controls via dip switch. 

Classified as power source equipment (PSE), Moxa IMC-P21A-G2 media converters can provide up to 36 watts of power to powered devices (PD). IMC-P21A-G2 can power IEEE 802.3at compliant powered devices (PD), eliminating the need for additional wiring. 

Smart PoE Feature

Moxa IMC-P21A-G2 PoE+ Fast Ethernet-to-fiber media converters offer a variety of useful functions. PoE diagnostics, Link Fault Pass-through, storeand- forward mode, and pass-through mode. IMC-P21A-G2 support IEEE 802.3/802.3u/802.3x with 10/100M and MDI/MDI-X autosensing, providing a complete solution for your industrial Ethernet networks.

Redundant Power Inputs
Both power inputs can be connected simultaneously to live DC power sources. If one power source fails, the other live source acts as a backup, and automatically supplies all the IMC-P21A-G2’s power needs.

Fiber Optic Port Connection

The concept behind the SC/ST port and cable is straightforward. Suppose you are connecting devices I and II. Contrary to electrical signals, optical signals do not require a circuit in order to transmit data. Consequently, one of the optical lines is used to transmit data from device I to device II, and the other optical line is used transmit data 
from device II to device I, for full-duplex transmission.

Simply connect the Tx (transmit) port of device I to the Rx (receive) port of device II, and the Rx (receive) port of device I to the Tx (transmit) port of device II. If you make your own cables, we suggest labeling the two sides of the same line with the same letter 

Auto MDI/MDI-X Connection
The Auto MDI/MDI-X function allows users to connect the Moxa IMC’s 10/100BaseT(X) ports to any kind of Ethernet device, regardless of the type of Ethernet cable used for the connection. This means that you can use either a straight-through cable or crossover cable to connect Moxa IMC to Ethernet devices.

Dual Speed Functionality and Switching
Moxa IMC’s 10/100 Mbps switched RJ45 port auto negotiates with the connected device for the fastest data transmission rate supported by both devices. All models of Moxa IMC are plug-and-play devices, so that software configuration is not required during installation or maintenance. The half-/full-duplex mode for the switched RJ45 ports is user dependent and changes (by auto-negotiation) to full- or halfduplex, depending on which transmission speed is supported by the attached device
