Scenario

This client wanted to build the world's first IEC 61850 110/220 kV digitalised transmission substation on China's state grid in Jiangsu province that meets IEC 61850 GOOSE/SMV and IEEE 1588 standards. 

 

Solution

Moxa was shortlisted as it offers end-to-end PRP/HSR solutions for substation communication and substation computing. Moxa's network management software allows proactive monitoring of network behavior and component status for preventive maintenance

 

Moxa's PT-7728-PTP was used in this project as it complies to IEC 61850-3 and
IEEE 1613 standards. The solution provided nanosecond-level accuracy according to IEEE 1588. PT-7728 features critical packet prioritisation (GOOSE and SMVs) and a built-in MMS server.
