Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a method to transmit power and data, up to 100 meters, over a single Ethernet (CAT5e/CAT6/ CAT6a) cable. Benefits of PoE include reduced wiring and installation costs with the flexibility of device placement. IEEE 802.3af (PoE) standard provides a maximum of 15 watt of power for the end device. The newer IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) delivers a maximum 34 of watts.
A PoE power injector spits out both power and data over the Ethernet cable to power the device. An unmanaged PoE switch can function as a power supply equipment (PSE). A managed PoE switch offers advanced management and protocol support, such as multicast filtering, quality of service, automatic warning, and SNMP security.
To simplify surveillance network deployment and maintenance, Moxa's PoE/PoE+ Ethernet switches offer high power, Gigabit speed, and SmartPoE management to remotely check, configure and reboot PoE devices, reducing the need for on-site visits. Built-in reliability, security, and millisecond-fast recovery help keep your networks up and running.
